Step into a real life palace

Spain’s royal family might not actually live inside the Palacio Real, but this incredible palace will fascinate even the most stubborn kids. Room after room of ornate, lavish decorations will leave them wide-eyed in awe. It won’t hurt your wallet, either: children ages 5-16 get in for just 5 euros, and tickets for little ones under 5 are absolutely free!

Explore Retiro Park (and rent a boat!)

Out of all of Madrid’s beautiful green spaces, Retiro Park is the most well-known. Visiting this stunning haven of nature is a must-do activity in Madrid for kids! Your whole family will marvel at the otherworldly Crystal Palace as sunlight gently filters in through the glass. Kids will also love the chance to go boating in the park’s spectacular manmade lake! Boat rentals are available year round and the perfect way to enjoy the Madrid sunshine.

Experience the thrills at an amusement park

What kid doesn’t love amusement parks? Luckily, Madrid is home to two of the best! The Madrid Amusement Park (Casa del Campo, s/n) has something for everyone. Located in the sprawling Casa del Campo park, it’s home to several roller coasters, a paintball area, a 4D movie theater and more.

A bit further outside town is the Warner Brothers’ Park (M-506, 28330 San Martín de la Vega), where kids will be delighted to run into some of their favorite cartoon characters! The park is full of fun rides, games and attractions that make it the perfect day of fun for the whole family. Whichever park you choose, it’s one of the best activities in Madrid for kids!

Learn something new at the museum

Think your kids would be bored wandering around a museum? Think again! The National Museum of Natural Sciences will wow visitors of all ages. If you’re traveling with a little soccer player in tow, this activity will be a winner.
