What to Expect on Your Tour

    TOUR SNAPSHOT

If you’re looking for the classic dinner and a show, this isn’t it. This immersive flamenco experience gives you so much more. Instead of being bewildered by the emotion in a traditional flamenco show, you’ll have gotten the inside scoop beforehand over tapas. This insight into the history and meaning behind the music will transform the performance for you. Afterwards, debrief the powerful show over a sit-down dinner.

    STOP-BY-STOP

We’ll get started with Madrid’s favorite aperitif: a glass of sweet vermouth straight from the tap in the neighborhood’s most iconic madrileño tavern! You’ll pair it with a variety of tostas, a classic tapa that’s the house specialty here. We’ll show you what makes places like this one special and prepare you to navigate Madrid’s tapas scene on your own.

On our way to the next tapas bar, you’ll learn that flamenco is so much more than the dance. To prove the point, we’ll pop into a traditional flamenco guitar shop that has made guitars for some of Spain’s most famous flamenco artists.*

Next up, you’ll sit down to enjoy a delicious plate of cured meats and cheeses at our favorite neighborhood deli and gourmet shop that’s been open since the 1930s. Over a glass of wine, your guide will prepare you for the heart-stopping show you’re about to see! It’s this introduction to the history and meaning behind the art form that will allow you to connect with the performers and take the show from great to unforgettable.

Now you’re ready for the show! We’ll slide into our reserved seats just steps from the stage and you’ll experience an hour of raw emotion communicated through traditional dance, guitar playing and singing. We’ll save dinner until after so you can focus your full attention on the performance.

After the show, we’ll head to our final stop of the night: a restaurant for a sit-down dinner of traditional Spanish tapas! You’ll enjoy hot-off-the-grill dishes like patatas bravas, spicy garlic shrimp, Padrón peppers and more. It’s the perfect moment to share your impressions of the performance over great food and wine!

At the end of the night, you’ll have done so much more than eaten tapas and seen a flamenco show—you’ll understand flamenco’s place in Madrid, and we bet it will have found a place in your heart.

And as with all Devour Madrid tours, you’ll receive our Devouring Madrid guide. Packed with all our favorite places to eat and drink in the city, put down your guidebook and get ready to experience Madrid like a local!

We love two of these stops so much that we also include them on our Huertas Neighborhood Food & Market Tour, so we don’t suggest doing both on the same trip. If you’re interested in booking another tour along with our Tapas & Flamenco Tour, try our Ultimate Spanish Cuisine Tour.
