What to Expect on Your Tour
Join us for a delicious and dramatic evening of Madrid’s best tapas and flamenco! On our four-hour Madrid Tapas and Flamenco Tour you’ll discover why Madrid is called the Capital of Flamenco (hint: this is where the great performers come to make their name!) and taste why the Spanish capital is famous for its incredible tapas bars. Too many visitors to Spain watch a flamenco show without really knowing what it’s all about. Or eat tapas without knowing where to go, or how to do it like a local. By taking this tour, you’ll gain a new-found knowledge, appreciation and love of both! Your expert guide will meet you in one of Madrid’s most beautiful neighborhoods – the Literary Quarter – and whisk you off to two gorgeous family-run tapas bars. Over glasses of great local wine, some of the country’s best cured ham, cheese and other tapas, your guide will give you a crash course in tapas-hopping Madrid-style as well as a fascinating introduction to the age-old and mysterious story of flamenco. All your questions will be answered – where was this unique art form born, what are they singing about, how does flamenco fit into Spanish culture today… Then, armed with all that knowledge, your guide will lead you to Madrid’s famous flamenco venue Cardamomo where you’ll settle in with a drink and soak up the power, drama and spectacle of world-class flamenco singers, dancers and guitar players. As the music settles, the evening continues, and you’ll head to a tucked-away tavern where you’ll sit down to a hearty dinner of hot-off-the-grill tapas and glasses of wine from the tavern’s own vineyard. Plus, of course, something sweet (and surprising) for dessert. And as with all Devour Madrid tours, your guide will give you a copy of our Devouring Madrid mini-guide, which is packed with all our favourite places to eat and drink in the city, so you’ll be eating well for the rest of your stay!
Great question! A Devour Madrid food tour is a fun, fascinating and (most importantly!) delicious introduction to the majestic city of Madrid. Our food tours visit some of the city’s best traditional eateries, including tapas bars, local markets, taverns and shops, and hidden gems that few even know exist! You’ll taste some of Madrid’s best local food, and gain fascinating insight into its age-old traditions. We keep our groups small and every tour is led by an English-speaking guide who knows Madrid like the back of their hand, and loves it to bits.
You’ll enjoy a 2-in-1 experience that combines delicious tapas (enough for a full dinner) at three traditional Madrid taverns and entry to a 50-minute flamenco show at Cardamomo, one of the best venues in town (one drink is included during the show). You’ll learn how to tapas-hop like a local, and your guide will give you a rich understanding of flamenco so you can better enjoy the show. Throughout you’ll learn about the food and wine you’re eating and drinking and come away with a deeper appreciation of Madrid and Spain’s culture. You’ll be led by a knowledgeable and fun English-speaking guide and Madrid expert. Plus, when you book you’ll receive a link to our Devouring Madrid mini-guide, packed with recommendations so you’ll eat well before and after your tour! And at the end of the tour, you'll get our Flamenco Guide, with lots of recommendations for albums, movies and books so you can continue your flamenco journey!
Don’t worry, you won’t be part of a massive hoard following a guide with a flag or a flamenco fan! We keep our groups small and intimate, so the tour can squeeze into small, hidden places and you get personal time with your guide. The maximum number of guests on this tour is usually 10 people and we only require two guests to operate a tour.
This tour is a great fit for curious teens who would enjoy learning about Madrid and Spain's fascinating history. We offer teen pricing and they will be served non-alcoholic drinks. Given the evening nature of this tour, we do restrict it to guests aged 13 years and older. If you're a family with younger kids, check out our Ultimate Spanish Cuisine Tour and our Hidden Madrid Food & Market Adventure.
The tour does not include transport to the meeting place, or from the ending point (ask your guide for guidance at the end of the tour if you’re not sure where you are). Also, please feel free to tip your guide if you think they did a great job! The standard gratuity in the tour industry is 10-15%.
Most importantly, your appetite! Also, keep in mind that tours take place rain or shine, so please dress appropriately and bring an umbrella if it looks like rain. Also, we recommend you wear comfortable shoes as you’ll be walking a few kilometres. Finally, while we do serve water on the tour at some stops, we recommend you bring a bottle of water.
Of course! We regularly offer private tours to families, groups of friends and corporate groups. Email us your group size, the date you'd like the tour and anything else you'd like us to keep in mind, and we'll get back to you within 24 hours.
